Encourage your students to improve their close reading skills by teaching them to annotate text with a simple sticky-note procedure. I built this FREE single-sheet handout to give examples of rich and weak annotated comments along with helpful suggestions to guide students who aren’t sure what they should be writing about when they’re asked to annotate a book.

The sheet was designed for students to keep intact in their writing binders or to slice up and use as a bookmark during reading time. Hope it’ll be useful for your classes!
