High School English on YouTube

My year-long project to post mini-lessons three times a week on YouTube is now complete! To keep things tidy and hopefully make things easier for folks to find, I’ve condensed the series to this one blog post and deleted the weekly update posts. Click any of the images below to view the appropriate playlist.

M.U.G. Shot Mondays – Build mechanics, usage, and grammar skills by editing two sentences per session. Answer keys included. (36 videos)

1

Words on Wednesdays – Learn the definition, part of speech, synonym/antonym, and everyday usage for three high-level vocabulary words. Good for standardized test prep. (36 videos)

2

Freestyle Fridays – A random collection of whatever English/language arts skill I felt like talking about that week as I tried to figure out which parts of my regular classroom lessons fit best into 5-to-10 minute video chunks. Yeah, these are all over the place. (36 videos)

The entire 108-video series can be viewed here in chronological order:

Hope these flipped lectures are useful. If questions arise, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me via the blog’s “Contact” page. Teach on, my friend!

Thank you for your excellent and truly wonderful post as a conclusion to your year-long project on creating mini High School English Video Lessons on YouTube. To help spread this to others, I have re-blogged it here:

You are so kind to offer all of this to “newish” high school English teachers like me! Thank you so very much.

This series has been a godsend for me and my junior gal. She is my last one home and we are homeschoolers. She loves your videos and materials for writing. Writing with a smile. Gotta love that. I posted a link to this series and your writing/teacher videos on several homeschool high school/middle school Facebook pages. I need to add we loved Click Clack Rattlebag. My married adult kiddos joined us in the viewing and question and answer. Lots of fun while learning,

Thanks so much, Sharyn, for letting me know all of this. It’s SO gratifying to know that the materials I’ve built are working for folks in a variety of learning environments. Please tell your daughter I say hello and I’m proud of her for working so hard! 😀

Hi. I can’t find these on YouTube. It seems like the Monday sessions ie 1,4 etc are missing. Is this a mistake or are they now for sale on a different platform? I have looked but I cannot find the answer. Thank you

Hi Christina,
Thanks for your interest and for checking in with me. Unfortunately, a few episodes in the High School English on YouTube mini-lesson series were tagged and removed by YouTube as having copyrighted music. I appealed (there was no copyright violations), but never heard back from them so it seems those few episodes you’re looking for are gone forever. Sorry about that. Happily, there are plenty of episodes that remained untouched by YouTube’s flagging system. I share in your disappointment, though. LR
